5 Day Mount Kenya Trek

Build a five-day Mount Kenya trekking proposal around mountain conditions, a qualified guide’s assessment and your own readiness. The route includes time for gradual progress and a high-point decision, with no summit promise and a separate equipment briefing required.

Rocky snow-tipped peaks of Mount Kenya

Why this journey?

  • Trailhead and first mountain camp
  • Ascend gradually
  • Acclimatisation and preparation
  • Conditional high-point attempt

Your day-by-day itinerary.

Day 1 · Trailhead and first mountain camp

Complete equipment, permit and guide checks before starting the agreed approach route. Walk at an acclimatisation pace and review health and turnaround rules each evening.

Meals: Breakfast at overnight accommodation; other meals are specified in the quotation.
Stay: Camp or lodge selected around your preferred comfort level and confirmed in your quotation.

Day 2 · Ascend gradually

Continue through changing vegetation with regular breaks. The mountain guide adjusts pace and camp choice to conditions and the group’s response to altitude.

Meals: Breakfast at overnight accommodation; other meals are specified in the quotation.
Stay: Camp or lodge selected around your preferred comfort level and confirmed in your quotation.

Day 3 · Acclimatisation and preparation

Use a shorter acclimatisation outing rather than adding unnecessary height. Review weather, essential equipment and whether a summit attempt is appropriate.

Meals: Breakfast at overnight accommodation; other meals are specified in the quotation.
Stay: Camp or lodge selected around your preferred comfort level and confirmed in your quotation.

Day 4 · Conditional high-point attempt

Attempt the agreed non-technical objective only when the qualified guide judges conditions and health suitable. Turn back promptly when needed, then descend to the confirmed overnight camp.

Meals: Breakfast at overnight accommodation; other meals are specified in the quotation.
Stay: Camp or lodge selected around your preferred comfort level and confirmed in your quotation.

Day 5 · Descend and return transfer

Walk down at a controlled pace and meet the trailhead vehicle. Allow a comfortable transfer buffer; summit success is never guaranteed.

Meals: Breakfast at overnight accommodation; other meals are specified in the quotation.
Stay: Your journey concludes today; an extra night can be discussed if needed.
